Tron Light Cycle Yellow (1982)

The Yellow Light Cycle is a distinctive 1982 TOMY vehicle from the original TRON toy line, designed as the companion vehicle for the Kevin Flynn action figure. Inspired by the futuristic motorcycles featured in the classic film, the vintage Yellow Light Cycle combines a streamlined design with bright yellow coloring, molded circuitry details, and a gray cockpit and lower chassis.

The vintage TOMY Yellow Light Cycle features a hinged cockpit canopy, narrow front wheel, textured rear traction wheel, and movie-inspired geometric graphics. Its signature feature is a ripcord-powered flywheel mechanism built into the rear wheel, allowing the cycle to speed across smooth, flat surfaces when the cord is pulled. The cockpit is designed to hold a 3.75-inch action figure in a reclined position beneath the hinged canopy. For collectors, the original ripcord is frequently missing or broken, while the gray plastic can develop a brownish-tan discoloration from UV exposure. A 2002 NECA reissue used the original TOMY molds; original 1982 examples are marked “TOMY” near the rear wheel hub, while NECA versions are marked “NECA.”
