Tron Light Cycle Red (1982)

The Red Light Cycle, also known as the Orange Cycle, is a vintage 1982 TOMY vehicle from the original TRON toy line. Named for its bright reddish-orange plastic, the cycle was designed to complement the line's 4-inch action figures and recreate the futuristic light cycles from the classic TRON film.

The vintage TOMY Red Light Cycle features a compact, taller design with a flip-up canopy, wide flat tires, and a ripcord-powered flywheel mechanism that launches the vehicle forward at high speed. For collectors, common condition issues include UV discoloration or yellowing on the gray center section and peeling silver wheel decals. Original 1982 examples are marked “TOMY” above the rear wheel, while the 2002 NECA reissue is marked “NECA” and generally has a duller finish, making these details useful for identifying an original vintage Red Light Cycle.
