1986 G1 Galvatron is a Decepticon City Commander from the original Transformers toyline, released in 1986 and again in 1987. Based on his The Transformers: The Movie animation design, the toy transforms into a Cybertronian treaded artillery unit and an alternate hand-held gun mode. Unlike his famous purple animated appearance, the original G1 toy features a predominantly gray color scheme and includes a laser rifle, particle cannon, and cannon connector.
Powered by a 9-volt battery, G1 Galvatron features light-up eyes and barrel, plus electronic sound effects across his modes. He is also one of the most articulated Transformers G1 figures, with ratcheting shoulders and hips, swivel joints at the waist, elbows, biceps, knees, and ankles. The Japanese release was part of the Scramble City sub-line, making this classic 1986 Galvatron a notable and highly recognizable Generation 1 Decepticon collectible.
