The Black Hole Dr. Hans Reinhardt (1979)

The 1979 Mego The Black Hole Dr. Hans Reinhardt 12.5-inch action figure was part of Mego’s premium 1:6-scale “prestige” lineup, designed as a high-end collectible and holiday gift. It came in a large, vividly illustrated window box inspired by the futuristic U.S.S. Cygnus from Disney’s The Black Hole.

Unlike the smaller figure’s molded red uniform, the large-scale Reinhardt features a detailed cloth costume consisting of a bright red jacket, black trousers, and tall black boots. His chest is decorated with a distinctive gold-colored foil medal emblem, adding an especially premium detail to the figure.

Collectors should pay close attention to the fragile foil chest emblem, as its star-shaped points can tear, lift, or peel with age. The Reinhardt head sculpt is also generally less prone to severe “grey face” vinyl discoloration than some other large-scale Black Hole figures. Today, the vintage Mego Dr. Hans Reinhardt 12.5-inch figure is highly desirable for its detailed cloth outfit, movie-inspired presentation, and distinctive metallic chest emblem.
