The Black Hole Captain Dan Holland (1979)

The 1979 Mego The Black Hole Captain Dan Holland 12.5-inch action figure was a premium, large-scale release designed as a holiday-season prestige item. It was packaged in a tall window box featuring distinctive artwork inspired by Disney’s The Black Hole.

The figure features a detailed Robert Forster likeness, a fully articulated body, and a realistic tailored cloth Captain Holland uniform with space boots and character insignia. The combination of fabric clothing and large scale gives the figure a more detailed appearance than Mego’s smaller 3.75-inch figures.

A major collector concern is “grey face” disease, a form of vinyl degradation that can cause the head’s original flesh tone to fade into a gray or zombie-like appearance.
