The Black Hole Captain Dan Holland (1979)

The 1979 Mego The Black Hole Captain Dan Holland 3.75-inch action figure was part of the first wave of figures based on Disney’s The Black Hole. It was sold individually on a traditional blister card and was also included as a bonus pilot figure with the rare Laserscope Starfighter playset.

Unlike many contemporary 3.75-inch figures, the Mego Black Hole figures featured highly articulated, flexible construction, drawing inspiration from Takara’s Micronauts toy technology. This gave Captain Dan Holland an unusually wide range of posing options for a figure of its size.

For collectors, a common condition issue is broken thumbs. The hands were molded tightly enough to hold accessories, even though the original Black Hole line did not consistently include weapons with its human figures. Today, the vintage Mego Captain Dan Holland figure is a notable collectible for fans of Disney’s The Black Hole and late-1970s science-fiction toys.
