The 1996 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutatin' Michelangelo action figure was released by Playmates Toys as part of the original Mutations subline. This vintage TMNT action figure features a unique transformation gimmick that allows Michelangelo to change from an ordinary pet turtle into a fully formed 5-inch Ninja Turtle, using twists, shifts, and hinged body parts. This figure is identical to the earlier 1992 release.
The Mutatin' Michelangelo figure originally came with 2 Orange Transforming Nunchakus, a Pizza-Tossing Ninja Star, Translucent Retromutagen Ooze Canister, Pet Turtle Food Can, and a Paper Mutation Chart/Instructions. Combining the classic Turtle origin concept with a hands-on transformation feature, this 1996 vintage TMNT collectible is a distinctive Playmates Toys release.
