In 1987, these tiny toy Army Ants marched into stores. These two inch scale figures released by Hasbro toy company featured two different armies. The two armies separated by color: blue and orange. The blue army, led by General McAnther, included five different squads and eight members. The orange army, led by General Patant, also included five different squads and eight members. Each figure had a distinct mold and featured a squishy abdomen. Unlike the majority of Hasbro’s toy lines in the 80s, the army ants made no moral distinctions between good and evil sides. These terribly rotten ants sought to capture everything within reach. Although these ants did not feature any sort of articulation, they each seeped with incredible personality. 10. Rambant
At number 10 on our Top 10 Army Ants Toys list, we have Rambant. Since this Army Ant appears on General Patant’s special strike force team, he appears with striking bright orange paint. Not only does this Army Ant feature detailed weapons and accessories across it’s chest, but he also holds a whip-like weapon in his arms, ready to fight at any moment. The bright green belt adds contrast and a pop of color as well as the purple removable abdomen. Although these Ants stand at 2 inches tall, they prove their might through the different molds and details. Rambant makes our top 10 list because of his epic stance and attached weapon details.
9. Razor Beak
Next up, we have Razor Beak. This bright blue action Army Ant toy belongs to General McAnther’s army. With a gun in it’s hand and silver detachable wings, this ant strides into battle ready to fight. This ant also features pops of color which make it stand out among the others. The bright orange glasses, red back, and green abdomen show the detail and diversity throughout Hasbro’s line. Razor Beak also shows a battle-pose as he crouches down to hide from enemy attacks. Because of Razor Beak’s intimidating stance, colorful accessories, and awesome weapons, this figure makes number 9 on our Top 10 Army Ants Toys list.
8. Rip Pin
Rip Pin then takes the number 8 spot on our list. This next Army Ant shows it’s personality through the fierce expression shown on it’s face. This ant features an orange belt and yellow abdomen. Along with these, Rip Pin also carries a giant forest green grenade, ready to throw across enemy bounds during any battle. The ant’s hat and antennae also add to the figure’s detailed design as well as the shoes and clothing molded into the figure. Rip Pin stands ready, open to attack at any moment with his arms stretched out and legs ready to move.
7. Blitz Kreig
Now, at number 7 on our Top 10 Army Ants Toys list, we have Blitz Kreig. This next Army Ant not only features cool accessories but also features the ant’s personality through it’s fierce stance. The Blitz Kreig figure includes both a dark blue helmet with lighter blue glasses and a purple abdomen. Although the ant’s helmet covers the head, Hasbro shows attention to detail through the figure’s mold when they placed the antennae outside of the helmet. This ant, like the previously mentioned, Rambant, also features all six legs reaching out and ready to grab or fight. Blitz Kreig also features clothing and boot designs molded into it’s bright orange exterior.
6. Knockdown
Heading up the Top 10 Army Ants Toys list at number 6, we have Knockdown. As another member of General McAnther’s army, this toy appears bright blue head to toe. Since the majority of the ant appears bright blue, the other colors on the figure stand out well. This Knockdown ant features red glasses, a bright orange vest, and removable abdomen. The ant’s antennae stick straight up, allowing it to sense enemies that come it’s way. Knockdown also comes with TNT in it’s hand to throw across enemy bounds during battle.
5. Mega Hurtz
The Mega Hurtz Army Ant, also a part of General Patant’s army, shows his personality through his open mouth facial expression. Mega Hurtz comes ready for battle with his army green back pack as well as his weapons. The bright blue, purple, and green on this Army Ant not only shows contrast but also gives more life to the character. The detail from Hasbro shown through Mega Hurtz includes it’s helmet, rolled up sleeves, folded collar, pants, and boots. The Army Ant Assault team includes Mega Hurtz along with Road Rash and Grease Pit. Because of these extravagant features, this figure lands halfway through our Top 10 Army Ants Toys list.
4. Pig Out
Reaching the top half of our list, at number four, we have Pig Out. This Army Ant belongs to General McAnther’s blue army. Also featured on the Artillery team, Pig Out joins both Sneaky and Quick Hit to take down General Patant’s orange army. Pig Out travels in a tank with the same bright blue color to blend in. Also attached to the ant and tank, a purple abdomen, red treads, and black weapon all add to the role of the ant within the army. Pig Out holds up two guns as he moves through battle to defend his army with an intense look on his face. The tank features tread, wheels, and extra bullets and weaponry along the side while the ant features a detailed helmet and army clothing.
3. Road Rash
Alike Pig Out, Road Rash also travels on wheels through the battle field for General Patant’s army. This Army Ant takes the number three spot on our list as a part of the Assault team. This ant makes the number three spot from the unique detail shown. Road Rash has white glasses to protect through battle and a black weapon on top to help defend. The helmet and clothing shows detail through patterns as well as the way the ant posed within the vehicle. The two back legs of the ant lay back, showing more of how a realistic ant walks and moves.
2. General Patant
Now, reaching the top 2 places on out Top 10 Army Ants Toys list, we have General Patant. Since General Patant takes the high role as the leader of the orange army, he then features even more detail than the other ants. Not only does this ant feature incredible design but also features more colors, bringing in contrast to set him apart from the other ants. General Patant features bright yellow stars along his helmet, white badges and medals, a green belt, as well as a purple abdomen.
The detail of this ant’s helmet, fierce facial expression, shoulder accents, and army attire show the high role of this general. Along with the attention to detail, Hasbro also included a clever addition to this ant by placing two of the ant’s arms behind it’s back. As the ant intently strides into battle, he hides a weapon with two arms behind it’s back to startle any enemies coming it’s way.
1. General McAnther
At 1st place on our Top 10 Army Ants Toys list, we have the General McAnther Hasbro ant. Along with General Patant, the leader of the blue army, General McAnther also shows incredible attention to detail. Bright pops of red contrast the blue ant and show throughout the figure from it’s hat to it’s eyes and even the squishy removable abdomen. General McAnther holds an impressive amount of badges and medals featured along the ant’s chest. The general’s uniform includes an intricate shirt with collar and tie as well as a hat, shoulder attachments, belt, pants, and boots. General McAnther holds a gun as a choice of weapon in one hand and holds the other arm behind it’s back. This Army Ant holds the fiercest facial expression of them all and surely leads and defends against the orange army well.
