Hasbro continued to promote their hit G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toys on page 132 of the 1987 Toy Fair Catalog. At the beginning of the decade, the G.I. Joe toy line was effectively a dead franchise, for Hasbro had temporarily shelved the line. However, with the persistence of an executive and the assistance of Marvel, G.I. Joe received a facelift to become Real American Heroes. With both comics and a cartoon show supporting the line, it became one of Hasbro’s greatest hits during the decade.

Hasbro promoted #6041, the Cobra Stun, a fast attack, a high-speed sentry that hastened Cobra soldiers to their attack position. This vehicle included a Cobra driver, MOTOR VIPER, with a personal combat command file card. In battle mode, the twin positionable cockpits split. Meanwhile, the firing positions elevated so the laser-power cannons could be fired from any position.

Then, they presented #6061, Sgt. Slaughter with Triple “T”. Most boots would rather dive for apples in the grease trap than cross the Sarge. However, his troops could always count on him and his Triple-T when the going got rough. Sgt. Slaughter came with a personalized combat command file card. The specially designed tracked tank had two side-mounted guns, removable missiles, and an engine cover.
