Hasbro continued to focus on their phenomenally successful toy line, the Transformers, on page 78 of the 1986 Toy Fair Catalog. After their debut in 1984, the Transformers became one of the most successful toy lines of all time. With the assistance of Marvel, Hasbro successfully blended the ingenuity of Japanese engineering with the creativity of American comics and cartoons. This venture had become so successful that the Transformers made it to the silver screen in 1986.

On this page, Hasbro promoted #5787: The Transformers Autobot Blaster, whose signals saved the day. This toy was a non-playing radio with an attachable weapon, a character bio, a Tech Specs chart, and a decoder.

Next, Hasbro presented #5790: The Transformers Decepticon Soundwave, who dispatched information to the Decepticons. This non-playing cassette player transformed into a robot and back. He came with a “Buzz-saw” cassette, attachable weapons, a bio card, a Tech Specs chart, and a decoder.

Finally, Hasbro promoted #5733: The Transformers Mini-Cassette Assortment. Five new characters transformed from cassettes into robots and animals. In cassette mode, they fit inside Blaster, the Autobot radio. or Soundwave, the Decepticon cassette player. Each blister contained two different cassettes with attachable weapons, bio cards, and Tech Specs charts.
